Find out from your child about our week, here are some great questions to ask...
- When did you feel most proud of yourself today?
- Tell me one new thing you learned today.
- What was the nicest thing you did for someone else today?
This week was Nursery Rhyme Week. We looked at a new nursery rhyme each day and explored these more in the provision.
We have looked at Jack and Jill. We made crowns as we know Jack broke his. We also made Jack's bucket in the creative area and look at what we could put in it. We thought about what different materials we could use to make handles to ensure our bucket was sturdy. We used different joining techniques such as tape, glue and PVA glue. Some children thought about which materials would be waterproof.
The next day, we look at hickory dickory dock. We made grandfather clocks in the contruction. Someone in our team spotted it looked like Big Ben. We explored where Big Ben is and that our capital city is in London. We looked at who lives there, like King Charles and enjoyed making him birthday cards to celebrate his 75th birthday!
On Wednesday, our nursery rhyme was head, shoulders, knees and toes. We looked at skeletons and how important bones are. We enjoyed drawing round different body parts.
If you practice singing any of these nursery rhymes at home, share it with us on tapesty!
In Maths we have been looking at circles and triangles. We have been describing how we know it is a circle or triangle by using the words 'sides' and 'corners'. Children had fun spotting these shapes in our environment and making pictures. Can you spot any circles or triangles in the environment over the weekend? Share this with us on tapesty!
It was Arts Aspiration Week! We had some visits from some local artists to tell us about their jobs. We had an active PE lesson with a musican as we practiced moving around to different pieces of music.
It has also been anti-bullying week. We loved wearing odd socks and dressing up for dare to be different day. Children shared what makes them different. We spoke about how we all like different thinks and we made a tally chart together of our favourite fruit.
We look forward to another great week next week.
