Autumn - Creative Curriculum

Reception Autumn Creative Curriculum

In Reception, we have had a busy start to our year!

We have started off our year by looking at our families and houses. We have looked at different types of houses and our own. We built our own houses, using materials both inside and outdoors. We created portraits!

We looked at the local area and where we live in Winsford - what buildings we recognise in the town. We made delicious vegetable soup! We learnt some important skills such as chopping and peeling.

We learnt more about the Harvest Festival and what occurs across the year. We discussed what we were thankful for and where our food comes from. As a class, we learnt the sequence of planting crops by learning and performing a song. Children learnt about the different crops that we can pick ourselves and the job of a farmer. Back at school, we explored the texture and contents of pumpkins by completing various Science experiments. We were amazed at the size of a pumpkin seed and looked at how it grows.

Together we talked about Diwali and the story of Rama and Sita. We explored how people have different beliefs and celebrate special times in different ways. Children made their own diva lamps out of dough and rangoli patterns using paint and chalk. We tried some tradditional food.
